Last month in April 15 I sent a package of books and some other educational materials to my hometown. Today I called home to find out about my package. I am told the package arrived in Isfara last Saturday April 30. I felt so impressed to hear this news. The package traveled “only” 15 days from USA to Tajikistan. I chose the “affordable” USPS Priority Mail and also insured the box of 12.5lb content (ma 20lb). I am glad our post offices in Tajikistan still work and do their job to deliver mail to the remote areas in Tajikistan. In the past I used to write letters and exchange parcels. The number of letter exchanges might be decreased in Tajikistan as people use mobile phones and Internet to communicate with each other. But still sending parcels might not be affordable for many inside the country.

If anybody wish to send packages of books and other things to Tajikistan from the United States, you may consider using USPS Priority Mail instead of other expensive delivery companies. Remember to purchase insurance in case of damage or loss.

That’s terrific! While I am happy to hear about this rare non-failure of USPS, I have to admit that one still has to rely on more expensive services when sending out important mail. Beware, unfortunately USPS remains the most disgraceful postal company in the U.S. that not only loses your stuff but also fails to responsibly pay back even under insurance agreement.

I agree with your about important mail, but I think with that highest price USPS may also have other other options. But compared to our postal systems, it actually works well :) In this country competition does its job!

How much did it cost you brother?
